Camp Confidence
This is our biggest event of the year! Camp Confidence is a therapy intensive camp for 8 to 11 year old children based on the Camp Jabiru model run in Sydney, Australia. It is our pleasure to bring this opportunity to Perth families for the seventh year in a row. Camp Confidence allows children a fun and supportive environment to enjoy the camp experience which is specifically tailored to meet therapeutic goals. In order to develop confidence emotionally, socially and with their movement, children need to experience the ‘just right’ challenge. Camp offers numerous opportunities with therapeutic intervention to support children to gain greater skills in independence, making friends, managing their feelings and much more!
Camp Confidence is staffed with occupational therapists and occupational therapy students, offering one adult to every two children. Children will be allocated into camp groups with a maximum of 10 children and minimum of four live in staff. Parents will receive a daily newsletter with updates from their child’s camp group. A nurse will also be on site for the entire duration of the camp to support children with medication and other first aid needs for our September Camp Confidence.

July Camp Out
Our July Camp follows the same framework as Camp Confidence for an older age group. This camp is catered to 12-15 year old children and has a variety of activities that promote independence, managing friendships and regulating their emotions.
This camp is staffed with occupational therapists and occupational therapy students, offering one adult to every two children. Children will be allocated into camp groups with a maximum of 10 children and minimum of four live in staff. Parents will receive a daily newsletter with updates from their child’s camp group.

Applications open to current clients and past campers: dates TBC
Pre-camp parent/child interview: May-August
Camp goal setting: 5 weeks pre camp
Camp goals review: one week post camp
Total cost of Camp Confidence (please note the following camp fees may be changed up until applications for camp open)
Overnight camp total = $3250
Transition group for 7-9 year old children, staying overnight on day 3 of camp (last night) = $2700
(Prices confirmed once applications open – the cost listed here is an estimate until this time).
At this time we do not have a day group planned for Camp Confidence 2025.

Applications opening day note
On the day applications open we will have two staff members available from 10.30am until 2.30pm. They can help with navigating the app and signing up. If you are having difficulties with the app or something isn’t working please email contact@calmandconnected.com.au as soon as possible. We can make sure we reserve your child’s place in the line and help you to resolve questions as soon as possible.
Camper Applications
Before applying for camp, please consider the following
The following points are unfortunately non-negotiable. Our team on camp work hard to support everyone who comes to camp and over the years we have learnt that sometimes, as much as we would love it to be, camp just isn’t the right experience for a child at that point in time. When camp is too great a challenge, we also know that the child doesn’t get the opportunities for friendship, learning and a feeling of achievement and success. It doesn’t mean it won’t ever be though, and we have worked with many children to help them to feel ready to come on a camp over time. Please contact us if you have questions or would like to chat to someone to see if camp is a ‘just right’ challenge for your child.
- Has slept overnight away from their parents.
- Will be able to interact and communicate with peers with adult support without individual/1:1 support (we have a support ratio of 2 children to every adult on camp).

Will be able to participate in group experience without individual/1:1 support (we have a support ratio of 2 children to every adult on camp).
If a child requires greater than 2:1 support on camp, including to remain with the group, we unfortunately will not be able to continue to have them on that camp and will call you to discuss plans to head home from camp. We find children who are requiring 1:1 support find camp to be too challenging for them at that point in time and don’t have the rich learning opportunities other campers experience. - Is able to stay with the group while on camp, and won’t run away from the group.
- Is okay being in groups of 40 plus people at a time (during meal times all adults and campers come together, while we split groups to sit inside and outside, it means there are approximately 60 people spaced between the dining room and two outdoor areas where we eat. So while everyone has space there are lots of people in the general area).
- Has the energy and endurance for four days of camp.
- Has not physically harmed others in the past 12 months.
- Has social skills and independence based goals they are keen to work towards on camp.
- Has not expressed suicidal thoughts or self harmed in the past 6-12 months (not actively suicidal).
Signing up for camp via our Camp App:

Step 1: Create an account for our Camp App
Step 2: Download the Calm and Connected Camp App from the App Store on your device
Step 3: Log into the app on your device using the details you created via the web link in step 1.
Step 4: Create a profile for your child on the app
Step 5: Select a camp and tap ‘register’ to complete the registration form
Step 6: Unfortunately, whilst we would love to bring every child with us, due to the large volume of applications we receive, not everyone will get a place, however we will place you on a waitlist should a spot become available, or for other camp opportunities. If a place is offered you will be sent an invoice or service agreement for pre-payment. Once payment is received or a service agreement is signed, then the place is confirmed.
Step 7: A staff member will be in touch to complete your included pre camp interview, goal setting and assessment session.
