Girls Trips (January) and Girls Sleepover (May) are for girls 11 to 13 years old and are held every year.
These overnight sleepovers are a great opportunity for girls to build their friendship and life skills in a fun and supportive environment.
There will be structured discussions around ‘girly stuff’ such as friends, high school and looking after our bodies (other topics on request) as well as activities such as cooking, craft, team games and on some camps, catching public transport (see individual camp information below).
Our therapy intensive camps are highly staffed by two qualified occupational therapists, therapy assistants and students as support staff, who stay with the girls for the duration of the camp.
There is a maximum of 10 places for girls on these trips. Prior to camp, families will meet with one of the therapists attending for a pre-screen and goal setting session. During the camps, parents receive a daily newsletter with updates on what the girls have been up to.
Please see our Frequently Asked Questions page for some more information about our camps.

The following are unfortunately non-negotiable. Our team on camp work hard to support everyone who comes to camp and over the years we have learnt that sometimes, as much as we would love it to be, camp just isn’t the right experience for a child at that point in time. When camp is. too great a challenge we also know that the child doesn’t get the opportunities for friendship, learning and a feeling of achievement and success. It doesn’t mean it won’t ever be though and we have worked with many children to help them to feel ready to come on a camp over time.
* Has slept overnight away from their parents
* Will be able to interact and communicate with peers with adult support without individual/1:1 support (we have a support ratio of 2 children to every adult on camp).
* Will be able to participate in group experience without individual/1:1 support (we have a support ratio of 2 children to every adult on camp). If a child requires greater than 2:1 support on camp, including to remain with the group, we unfortunately will not be able to continue to have them on that camp and will call you to discuss plans to head home from camp. We find children who are requiring 1:1 support are finding camp to be too challenging for them at that point in time and don’t have the rich learning opportunities other camps experience
* Is able to stay with the group while on camp, and won’t run away from the group
* Is OK with being in groups of 20 plus people at a time
* Has the energy endurance for four days of camp
* Has not physically harmed others in the past 12 months
* Has social skills and independence based goals they are keen to work towards on camp
* Has not expressed suicidal thoughts or self harmed in the past 6-12 months (not actively suicidal)
* OK to be without their phone and tech devices (e.g. iPads, gaming devices) for the duration of camp
* Able to be in bed, winding down ready to sleep by 8:45pm each night

Many children have difficulty with everyday skills such as listening, sitting still, staying focused, or joining in with others.
The Therapists at Calm and Connected provide mobile, clinic & online support to the adults surrounding a child and teach the child how to address the foundational skills that affect our ability to connect.
