Shannon Rees

Occupational Therapist

BIOGRAPHY

Shannon grew up in Perth with a love for the outdoors, sport, and camping, passions that still play a big part in her life today. Any chance she gets, you’ll find her outside enjoying an adventure with family or friends, whether that’s swimming, hiking, camping, riding her bike, or heading to the beach.

Shannon studied Occupational Therapy at Curtin University, where she discovered her passion for working in school settings. While completing her degree, she worked as both an educator and education assistant, gaining valuable experience supporting students in the classroom. Working alongside teachers, social workers, and psychologists during both her time as an education assistant and her university placements strengthened Shannon’s passion for advocating for students and creating practical strategies that fit naturally into everyday classroom routines.

During her final placement in Carnarvon, Shannon’s passion for supporting children continued to grow, particularly in the areas of self regulation and sensory processing. She was drawn to Calm and Connected for its strong focus on self regulation and its unique camp experiences, combining her professional interests with her love for the outdoors.
