Boys Trip (January)
The Boys Trip is held in the January school holidays for 11 to 13 year old boys. This overnight trip is a fun and relaxing way to build friendship and life skills in a supportive environment. The group of 10, will stay overnight in a house near the beach. Activities include fishing, beach games, cooking and much more! Parents will receive a daily newsletter with updates from the group.
Drop off/ pick up is from Cockburn train station. Drop off is at 10am. Closing ceremony and camp wrap up starts at 2:30pm on the last day of camp.
BOYS TRIP DETAILS
When: Wed 22nd – Fri 24th January 2025
Location: Mandurah house
Applications: Open October 2024
Pre-trip parent/child interview: Early December
Trip goal setting: Late December
Trip goals review: two weeks following the trip.
Total Boys Trip cost: $2200 (prices confirmed once applications open – the cost listed here is an estimate until this time)
Included: all meals, accommodation, activities, one adult to two children ratio, and pre-screening session (for new campers). Please contact our team if you require a quote or information to support funding applications. A follow up home/school visit to implement the strategies gained from camp is also available as part of our home visiting therapy services.
APPLICATION INFORMATION
Step 1: Complete the application form here.
Step 2: A Calm and Connected staff member will call to discuss camp and any questions you may have about camp.
Step 3: Our admin team work with you to finalise funding and invoices for camp.
Step 4: A staff member will be in touch to complete your included pre-camp pre-screen for new campers.
Step 5: Your child’s position on the trip is confirmed once funding is finalised (a service agreement is signed (NDIS funding), deposit is paid (privately paid), and one of our camp therapists has confirmed with you that camp is suitable for your child’s goals and strengths.
*Due to limited places, applications are taken on a “first come, first serve” basis. Once all available places have been filled, you will be notified and your child placed on the waitlist.
Please read the following points and/or call our office on 0430 645 086 if you are not sure if this camp meets the ‘just right’ challenge for your child:
- Has had some sleep over experience away from home with someone other than a relative.
- Will be able to interact and communicate with peers with adult support without individual/1:1 support (we have a support ratio of two children to every adult on camp).
- Will be able to participate in group experience without individual/1:1 support (we have a support ratio of two children to every adult on camp).
- Is able to stay with/ the group while on camp.
- Is able to manage being in groups of 20 plus people.
- Has the endurance for three days of camp.
Please note: this is a technology free trip, please leave all ipads, ipods, phones, computers and electronic games at home. Items will be accepted if they are for communication purposes only.
