APPROACH

Daniel primarily brings a person-centred, trauma informed approach to practice. Primarily utilising a Narrative Therapy framework to help clients separate from problems and identify all the influences on their story, as well as foster connection to their key strengths and values. The main support Daniel aims to bring to clients is providing them with a safe, secure, non-judgemental space in which to freely express their thoughts and emotions. Counselling sessions are held in a confidential, quiet and relaxed room where clients can express themselves through talking, drawing, play or whatever means suits them.

Daniel aims to stay informed and aware of modern pressures which affect young people, such as the influence of technology and social media, shifting family structures, cultural expectations and changing social norms. Trust, safety and comfortability are key concepts that Daniel recognises are vital for children to authentically express themselves and engage with their growth and interests. Counselling with these present can benefit children in developing a secure sense of identity, belonging, motivation and emotional regulation. Goals of therapy include improving relationships with others, having a better understanding of personal context for both children and parents, management of sensitivities or anxieties, and creating strategies for better emotional resilience.
