Event Details

Drawing on the work of Joan Lovett and others, this EMDR storytelling workshop will teach the foundations of the method, in addition to the theory of EMDR storytelling.  In the workshop there aims to be a focus on developing skills in using the EMDR storytelling method with younger clients within trauma-focused therapy. The method is taught to be applied to children aged 11 – 12 years, to treat trauma related presentations, including the impact of preverbal trauma. The right story can lead to extraordinary healing; beyond creating a narrative and strengthening child-parent attachment.

This workshop will discuss the theory and rationale for choosing to use the storytelling method, will review a clear structured protocol to developing effective stories, and enhance ways to deliver stories in an authentic, playful, heartfelt way. Those attending will be required to bring a suitable clinical case (deidentified) and develop a story with the EMDR framework. The workshop allows for feedback on case conceptualisation and story development.  In the workshop case studies with various presentations will be presented with issues and pitfalls discussed in relation to utilising the EMDR storytelling method with various young clients. This consultation is for those who are trained in EMDR Level 1, and work with younger populations and their families.

Preparation materials and slides will be emailed prior, and resources mailed after the training also.
