Siblings Group

Growing up alongside a sibling with additional needs can shape a child’s world in ways that often go unseen. Attention and resources are understandably stretched, with much of the focus often directed towards the sibling with additional needs. Meanwhile, brothers and sisters can quietly absorb shifting roles, unspoken expectations, and feelings they may not yet have the language to express.

This group creates a dedicated space for siblings to feel seen, heard, and understood. Through play-based, trauma-informed group work, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore their place within their family.
  • Begin to explore emotions that may exist between siblings (pride, frustration, worry, envy, resentment, love – often many at once!).
  • Connect with other kids who may be experiencing similiar things
  • Build tools to manage stress and conflict around sibling relationships.

Sessions will be playful and low-pressure using game-based activities to create natural openings for children to share and connect, without it feeling like therapy.
